ABSTRACT
ASTM committee D19 on water has developed D8543, a new method for the analysis of pesticides, and PCBs in water samples. The method is like EPA method 608.3, extracting the samples in the same way, except analyzing them by Gas Chromatography Tandem Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS/MS). The intent of this method is to provide laboratories with an alternative test procedure (ATP) to Method 608.3 which uses Electron Capture Detection. Data, next steps, and potential next steps will be presented.
