ABSTRACT
A Cloud hosted Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) enhances the reliability of decision-making processes for the laboratory. This presentation delves into the advantages of Cloud hosted LIMS implementations such as reliability, security, optimization of IT resources, and cost efficiency. Real-time access to data from any location ensures that laboratory staff have uninterrupted workflow with up-to-date information, fostering informed and timely decisions. The Cloud vendor, server model, and access requirements are integral to the reliability of Cloud hosted LIMS. Decisions regarding security requirements are increasingly imperative to the accessibility and protection of laboratory data. A Cloud hosted LIMS also allows for the reduction of IT resources involved in the support and maintenance of LIMS related IT infrastructure, enabling an organization to allocate those resources more effectively. Lastly, a Cloud LIMS offers laboratories a cost-effective alternative to data management by minimizing upfront infrastructure costs and lowering the investment threshold for LIMS acquisition. By offering a more flexible pricing structure, laboratories can adjust financial resources more efficiently.
