Edward Askew

: In 2008, at the request of engineering consultants and environmental lawyers, Dr. Edward Askew became a consultant focusing on environmental projects in the water and wastewater arena. These projects have included watershed characterization, wastewater plant pollutant limits and regulatory compliance with the Clean Water Act.
In 2012 Dr. Askew started a new company, Cannabinoid Technical Group to work in parallel with Askew Scientific Consulting to be an advocate of peer reviewed validated methods through a consensus method organization, American Oil Chemist Society (AOCS). As there were no open multi-laboratory validated methods available to the cannabis testing laboratories nor an independent performance test sample (PT) available, accreditation of cannabis testing laboratories under Dr. Askew ISO 17025 was difficult if not impossible. CTG has helped set up a committee within AOCS to address these issues and to develop validated methods that will meet USP requirements once the FDA has approved medical cannabis products.
Dr. Askew have served as the chair of the Laboratory Practices Committee for the Iowa Water Environment Association (formally the Iowa Water Pollution Control Association), Iowa Water Environment Association Research Committee, AWWA- Iowa Section Laboratory Practices Committee and the AWWA Water Quality Laboratory Committee. Dr. Askew was a committee member of Standard Methods for the Examination of Water and Wastewater for 15 years and a Part Coordinator for Part 4000 for 14 years. Recent awards include the Iowa Water Pollution Control Association Laboratory Analyst award; the IOWATER Professional of the Year (Watershed Testing); the Iowa Governors Award for Volunteerism (Watershed Testing); the Water Environment Federation, Arthur Sidney Bedell Award for Service to the Iowa Water Pollution Control Association, and the Archie Greenberg Award from Standard Methods for the Examination of Water and Wastewater.
