Author: John Healey leads the national fish tissue monitoring program for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Office of Science and Technology. The fish tissue monitoring program collects fish composite samples from the Great Lakes, and from rivers and lakes throughout the 48 contiguous United States, for analysis of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), mercury and polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs). These national probabilistic surveys are conducted in collaboration with EPA’s National Aquatic Resource Surveys, and the results provide a national baseline assessment for these contaminants.
