ABSTRACT

HRSD completed work with EPA and the Virginia DEQ to obtain approval of an alternative testing procedure (ATP) to employee online technology to analyze for total residual chlorine to meet VPDES permit requirements for maintaining minimum chlorine concentration in the contact tank of one of the organizations 15 wastewater treatment facilities. This presentation will review the steps taken to obtain the ATP, methods of testing, and implementation steps. In addition, current efforts to develop protocols for standards methods through the creation of a Joint Task Group will be covered.
