Sandra McLellan
Dr. Sandra McLellan is a Professor in the School of Freshwater Sciences at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. She earned her PhD in Environmental Health at School at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine and has been working on water issues in the Great Lakes for the past 20 years. Her work focuses on understanding the linkages between the environment and human health, particularly in urban coast systems. Her laboratory has developed new indicators for fecal pollution by analyzing microbiome of humans and animals. During the COVID-19 global pandemic, Dr. McLellan’s lab has been performing wastewater surveillance to understand the trends of COVID-19 in Wisconsin communities to contribute to the public health response. She was elected as a Fellow into the American Academy of Microbiology in 2020 and is a 2021 Fulbright Scholar Recipient.
