Don Gamiles
Don Gamiles is the President of Argos Scientific, Inc. Argos is currently working with a number of oil refineries and communities in the Bay Area to provide community based air monitoring programs. These programs are intended to help address the public’s concern about air quality issues. Dr. Gamiles has over twenty years of experience in the application of innovative technologies that measure chemicals in the ambient air. Included in this work was his employment as a field analytical chemist for the United Nations where he operated air monitoring equipment during the destruction of chemical weapons in Iraq. In 1998, Dr. Gamiles started his own company to develop low-cost ambient air monitoring systems. These technologies are currently used by oil refineries and chemical companies to provide real-time, web accessible data for a number of gases associated with chemical processes. This work has grown to include integrating low cost air monitoring technologies into air sampling stations that are specifically tailored to address community concerns.
