Pete Marchetto has been active in environmental monitoring for over a decade, and has been designing, building, testing, breaking, and fixing electronics for even longer than that. He has been a postdoc at the Cornell Soil and Water Lab, building instrumentation for field work while developing STEM curricula to integrate electronics and environmental education. He's most recently been an assistant professor at the University of Minnesota, running the instrumentation lab for the Department of Bioproducts and Biosystems engineering while building out various open-source instrumentation targeted at citizen scientists, farmers, and others interested in getting more data about their surroundings by using inexpensive tools. He now works as an environmental sensing and instrumentation consultant through Sensing.
