ABSTRACT

For organizations looking to implement a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS), many are now considering Software as a Service (SaaS) as a deployment option vs. a traditional On-Premise installation. SaaS provides several compelling benefits including no longer needing a capital investment in hardwareinfrastructuresecurity since it is hosted by the vendor and providing the ability to pay a nominal monthly subscription fee for the solution. At the same time, some companies feel a loss of control because the software no longer is on-premise. However this concern is decreasing every day as the move to SasS or cloud-based solutions continues to grow primarily due to low hardware costs, easy cloud management and proven safeguards on data integrity and security.

This presentation will go over the pros and cons of both SaaS and On-Premise LIMS implementations with an emphasis on highlighting requirements unique to the laboratory. The discussion will help attendees determine the criteria they can use to make a decision. ATL will also walkthrough a cost of ownership analysis to add some credible financial comparisons to the SaaS vs. On-Premise discussion. There are many factors to consider when deciding whether to deploy a SaaS or On-Premise LIMS – this session will help attendees make sense of it all and help make the right decision.
