Abigail Joyce
Dr. Abigail Joyce is in her second year as a National Research Council Post-Doctoral Research Associate conducting her work with Dr. Robert Burgess at the U.S. EPA, Office of Research and Development, Atlantic Ecology Division in Narragansett, Rhode Island. Her research focuses on further developing passive sampling techniques using performance reference compounds to measure freely dissolved water and sediment concentrations of persistent organic pollutants and relating passive sampling uptake to bioaccumulation. Dr. Joyce has presented the results of this research at national and international meetings including the Society of Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry – North America and Europe, American Chemical Society, and the International Passive Sampling Workshop and Symposium.
Abigail received her Ph.D. in Chemistry in 2013 from the University of Southern California under the advisement of Dr. James F. Haw. During this time she was a SeaGrant Fellow collaborating with Dr. Keith Maruya and Southern California Coastal Water Research Project (SCCWRP) and Dr. Rachel Adams at Loyola Marymount University. Prior to her graduate work, Abigail earned her B.S. in Chemistry at Oregon State University in Corvallis, OR.
