Timothy Croley
Tim Croley is the Chief of the Spectroscopy and Mass Spectrometry Branch at the Food and Drug Administration’s Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition. Work in the branch is diverse ranging from economically motivated adulteration to bacterial identification to detection of food allergens and gluten. Tim’s research interests are in the application of mass spectrometry to non-targeted analysis, intact protein mass spectrometry to characterize bacteria, protein toxins, and development of novel extraction methods in complex matrices. Tim received his bachelor’s degree in Chemistry with a minor in Biology from the University of Kentucky, a Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry from Mississippi State University, and was a Post-doctoral Fellow at Trent University in Peterborough, Ontario. He has been with the FDA since 2009.
