Kate Kucharzyk
Dr. Kucharzyk is a Research Scientist with Battelle Memorial Institute in Columbus Ohio in Battelle’s Energy and Environmental Business Unit. Her project experience and fields of competence include soil, groundwater and sediment remediation, biochemical basis of bioremediation of munition constituents, omic technologies in performance monitoring, environmental microbiology. She has reviewed and interpreted data for optimization of remedial technologies and geochemical and biological characterization of contaminated sites. As a technical specialist, she maintains active research projects along with developing new innovative solutions for remediation initiatives. Some of the activities include application of enhanced in situ bioremediation approaches in contaminated sites, forensic investigations, and monitoring of ongoing remediation processes. Dr. Kucharzyk’s focus during her career has been working in the area of biodegradation of heavy metals, chlorinated solvents and munition constituents. She is currently a member of am ITRC team on Bioavailability in Contaminated Soil.
