Kari Meier
Dr. Kari Meier is employed by the United States Amy Corps of Engineers (ACE) as the Environmental Chemistry Program Manager for Innovative Technology applications overseeing the process implementation for Military Munitions Response Program (MMRP) and Formerly Used Defense Sites (FUDS) Policy. She is also focused on the project integration with the Environmental Security Technology Certification Program (ESTCP).
Dr. Meier is the lead for USACE Innovative Technology initiatives for environmental and munitions projects, including coordination of ESTCP technology demonstrations and validation for program sites and identifying and addressing key regulatory concerns for Military Munitions Advanced Classification through participation of the Interstate Technology and Regulatory Council (ITRC). She is also responsible for manage data and processes for the USACE submittal and achievement of Army goals for completion of all Munitions Response Site Prioritization Protocol (MRSPP), conducting quality assurance reviews for FUDS projects, serves as a technical expert for USACE districts, and is the Lead Author for revision of MRS Delineation Handbook guidance, develop processes, and assist in implementation.
She serves on the Department of Defense Environmental Data Quality Workgroup (EDQW) as a proponent to develop performance measurements and implement Uniform Federal Policies for quality and reproducible data in environmental and munitions programs, and is a Tiger Team member for Military Munitions Support Services. She is also an invited technical reviewer for Toxicological and Applied Pharmacology and the Journal of Geophysical Research, Atmospheres.
Dr. Meier has twelve years’ experience in environmental chemistry with the US EPA and ACE. She earned a Ph.D. in Earth and Atmospheric Sciences from the Georgia Institute of Technology, a M.S. in Chemistry from the University of Arkansas, and a B.S. in Chemistry from Hendrix College. She has received numerous personal recognitions from the USACE for her leadership and completion of projects.
