ABSTRACT
Most environmental laboratories have LIMS systems implemented to manage workflow for their analytical processes, but when it comes to reporting Level III or IV Data Packages, it still remains a common practice to manually print, sort, copy, scan, paginate the final required package. This process is not only inefficient and error-prone, but costly and causes unnecessary delays, which often result in client dissatisfaction, penalties and future lost business.
Data storage and retrieval is another issue with the paper dependent process. Labs are required to keep copies of final reports and all supporting raw data for a number years, often more than seven. Imagine searching file cabinets for in storage and retrieving documents when required years later to respond to any subsequent inquiries.
Additionally, clients often require CLP-Like Forms for data validation purposes. Not every commercial or home-grown LIMS available in the market place offers an integrated approach to producing these forms, so labs end up using external templates to prepare manually, again a costly and error-prone proposition.
This presentation would highlight and detail the process of automating the entire process to make it painless, efficient and cost effective in order to produce digital, indexed and searchable final packages that will meet or exceed the expectations of today’s most sophisticated client.
