ABSTRACT
The profile for the pedigree of a sample is directly tied to the sample workflow from cradle to grave. To validate the integrity of the sample data, the creation, receipt, analysis, validation and reporting of sample data must meet or exceed all relevant method acceptance criteria. Validating the sample’s pedigree is connected to repeatable and predictable QC best practices incorporated into the laboratory’s LIMS. The foundational elements of sample workflow responsible for traceability start with meeting the method acceptance criteria. The LIMS must integrate electronic record keeping validating every step in the sample workflow which includes sample locations, test codes, batch templates, benchsheets and unequivocal traceability of the consumables used to validate the quantitative or qualitative sample data. The core integration of these workflows provides the required data integrity to accurately generate data reports of known and documented quality with a clearly defined profile and pedigree.
