ABSTRACT
As laboratories scale in volume and complexity, quality management systems must evolve beyond reactive investigation toward intelligent, proactive prevention. This session explores how modern Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) are transforming quality processes in environmental labs by integrating advanced analytics and automation. We introduce a next generation quality module that unifies non-conformance events, instrument deviations, result overrides, and other key metrics into a single, interactive dashboard.
Through real-world examples and dynamic visualizations, we will demonstrate how environmental laboratories can leverage automated quality systems to continuously monitor operations, detect anomalies in real time, and flag potential issues, such as out-of-spec results, or expiring tasks before they escalate. Attendees will see how structured investigations are supported through visual tools like decomposition trees, which help identify high-impact quality drivers and guide corrective and preventive actions. By embedding these capabilities into routine workflows, laboratories can shift from manual quality checks to a data-driven approach that enhances efficiency, reduces compliance risk, and strengthens data integrity.
This work highlights how modern laboratory informatics, paired with intelligent automation, enables a shift from quality reporting to quality intelligence by improving audit readiness, operational performance, and scientific reliability.
