ABSTRACT

Event-based testing requires integration into laboratory operations and quality system processes, as it is typically performed in response to regulatory requirements or specific customer requests. While this approach is embedded in drinking water, wastewater, and similar regulatory programs, the technical challenge for laboratories is ensuring that activities are planned, controlled, and auditable.

This presentation frames event-based testing as a management and quality system strategy. The designation of roles and responsibilities, communication pathways, escalation procedures, and reporting processes will be reviewed, with a focus on identifying opportunities for continual improvement. Attendees will leave with practical insights on how effective documentation reduces ambiguity, improves turnaround time, enhances customer service, and strengthens regulatory compliance.
