ABSTRACT
Many countries in the world have implemented regulations to limit the concentration of metals in waters. In the U.S., the Environmental Protection Agency published Method 200.8 for the analysis of trace elements in groundwater, surface water, and drinking water, and Method 6020B to monitor 23 metals in environmental water using ICP-MS, both to support different Federal, State and local regulations.
In this work, EPA 200.8 and 6020B were validated in various water samples using the Shimadzu ICPMS-2040/2050. All the elements in both methods were included. Good recoveries were obtained in both methods, confirming the accuracy of the analyses. Additionally, the internal standard recoveries and the CCV recoveries were within both EPA QC requirements, demonstrating the high stability of the Shimadzu ICPMS-2040/2050.
In this presentation, we will share the results from the method development, accuracy, precision, and long-term stability from the different configurations evaluated to enable laboratories to run EPA methods 200.8 and 6020B.
