ABSTRACT

The amperometric method for measuring cyanide in drinking water and wastewater has existed for about 30 years. Many laboratories have adopted it, largely due to the operational benefits it provides. Yet, considerable confusion still exists in terms of how the method works and what kind of practical benefits it can provide to environmental laboratories.

The presentation sets out to clarify the operation principle, performance metrics and operational improvements associated with the amperometric CN method. Also discussed are the many variants of cyanide analysis and how they differ from one another. The talk aims at providing a roadmap for laboratory managers as they evaluate how to implement cyanide analysis at their site.
