Innocent Jayawardene
Dr. Innocent Jayawardene is a Chemist/ Evaluator, in the Existing Substances Risk Assessment Bureau, Inorganic Division at Health Canada.
She started working at Health Canada in 2011 as an analytical chemist and became a scientific evaluator. In 2016, she was awarded the Assistant Deputy Ministers Award for successfully accessing the Canadian Health Measure Survey biobank whole blood samples in order to obtain human biomonitoring data. Prior to joining Health Canada, she gained her post-doctoral training as a Fulbright scholar at Harvard School of Public Health, Boston. There she gained extensive experience in state-of-art elemental detection in environmental and biological matrices and in managing national and international biomonitoring projects.
