ABSTRACT
Over the last 40 years, each EPA program has developed their own set of methods with varying requirements for activities such as calibration and quality control even though the analytical technology is essential equivalent. For example, a commercial laboratory might be analyzing ground water from a RCRA facility, ground water from a Superfund site, waste water from an NPDES discharger, and drinking water from a municipality, but cannot combine these samples into one batch because of the differences in the required methods. This session will explore the differences in key aspects of between the four major EPA programs and provide recommendations for a common solution. This presentation will focus on the analysis of volatile organics in water using purge and trap and GC/MS.
