Leon Vinci

Leon F. Vinci received his Bachelors Degree from Wesleyan University (CT.), and his MPH from the Yale University School of Medicine’s Department of Epidemiology and Public Health. He completed his doctorate from the College of Health Professions at the Medical University of South Carolina where he graduated with Honors.

Dr. Vinci’s thirty-year public health career has involved him in a variety of aspects of the environmental health profession. In addition to his widely-recognized leadership initiatives, he has received national stature in such areas as school health issues, hazardous materials management, Health Reform, Public Health Preparedness, continuing education, institutional sanitation, Bioterrorism/Emergency Preparedness, Environmental Health, and infectious diseases (including H1N1, Ebola, Avian Flu, and MRSA). He is the founder of Health Promotion Consultants (HPC), a health consulting firm and is CEO.

Prior to his current position, he also provided leadership for the Departments of Public Health in Avon, Middletown, Waterbury, and Westbrook, CT.; posts in Colorado and Montana; and as the Health Director for Johnson County (KS) and Lincoln-Lancaster County (NE).

Leon remains active with national professional organizations including NEHA, NACCHO, APHA, and NALBOH. With the NEHA he established their first national registration credential (which he holds: RS) and the NEHA Scholarship Fund.
