Debra Waller
Debra Waller has been a Lead Certification Officer and NELAP assessor for the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection for more than 10 years. Debra is in charge of the microbiology auditing team and microbial regulatory concerns for the NJDEP. Debra also developed the cryptosporidium and giardia assessment program for the NJDEP. She is the Quality Assurance Officer for the NJ BEACH program and specializes in quality assurance and quality control for ambient, drinking, biosolids, wastewater and public recreational sample testing. A former licensed sewage treatment plant operator, twenty year drinking/wastewater laboratory veteran and the recipient of the NJWEA’s Laboratory Analyst Excellence Award, Debra also specializes in the chemical analysis of wastewater and ambient water and has been instrumental in the research and development of ambient water method certification for the NJDEP, and
Dr. Stephanie Abromaitis received her Bachelors of Science from Washington University in St. Louis and her Doctoral degree from the Division of Infectious Diseases and Immunology at UC Berkeley School of Public Health. After receiving her Ph.D., Dr. Abromaitis was awarded a fellowship position within the Division of Infectious Diseases at UC San Francisco Department of Medicine. Her academic research focused on deciphering the pathogenic mechanisms underlying microbial colonization of human hosts and arthropod vectors. In 2012, Dr. Abromaitis joined the California Department of Public Health (CDPH). She is the technical lead for the CDPH Drinking Water and Radiation Laboratory Branch Microbiology Unit. Her laboratory works on microbial testing of drinking water and recreational water and toxin detection in shellfish.
