ABSTRACT

With the integration of on-line instrument data to control the water or wastewater plant through the use of Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) software, the laboratory information and Management System (LIMS) software may be called upon to utilize this data for regulatory compliance. Though EPA method 334 or 40 CFR part 136.7 lists specific quality control requirements that must be met, the SCADA system may not convey these results to the LIMS system in a manner that is sufficient to meet the regulatory requirements for reporting on the monthly operational report (MOR). This talk will focus on the real-world problems that can be encountered with interfacing the SCADA data with the LIMS and the regulatory requirements for the MOR.
