Ellen R Campbell
Ellen R Campbell is Co-Founder and Vice President of NECi, The Nitrate Elimination Company, Inc. Dr and Mrs Campbell started the company in 1993, to commercialize his basic research into the nitrogen metabolism of plants, and the structure/function characteristics of the enzymes that make metabolism happen. NECi's R&D has been funded via competitive grants from the Small Business Innovation Research programs of EPA, NIH, DoEnergy, NSF, and the USDA. NECi's products for nitrate determination have won Standard Method status from a number of organizations including the USGeological Survey and ASTM. Ellen hates school but managed to hang on for a BSc in Chemistry/Biochemistry from SUNY ESF. Prior to founding NECi, her experience in methods development for pharmacology research in Syracuse NY, at two short term stints in Germany and Stockholm, Sweden, and at Dr Campbell's lab at Michigan Technological University gave her the foundation needed to turn enzymes from mysterious objects into reliable analytical reagents.
