Dr. Askew has worked in the environmental field for over 25+ years in various regulatory environmental fields. These areas include FIFRA pesticide analyses and enforcement for both the industrial sectors and the state/federal regulators; water and wastewater analyses and enforcement for both the municipal and private sectors and radiochemistry for federal/state regulators.
In 2008, Askew Scientific Consulting LLC was formed focusing on environmental projects in the water and wastewater application and regulatory fields. These projects have included watershed characterization, wastewater plant NPDES pollutant limits, analytical instrument validation, laboratory certification and regulatory compliance.
Dr. Askew has served as the chair of the Laboratory Practices Committee for the Iowa Water Environment Association (formally the Iowa Water Pollution Control Association). He is currently the chair of the Iowa Water Environment Association Research Committee, chair of the AWWA-Iowa Section Laboratory Practices Committee, a member of the Iowa Water Environment Association Laboratory Practices Committee, a member of the Rocky Mountain Water Environment and AWWA Joint Laboratory Practices Committee and a member of the AWWA Water Quality Laboratory Committee. He was a committee member of Standard Methods for the Examination of Water and Wastewater for 15 years and the past Part Coordinator for Part 4000. He is currently the chair of the AOAC Water and Wastewater Community.
