ABSTRACT

WaterAND Heat: Using Community Science to Address Hazard Bias

Drawing from a range of community science initiatives, the Charleston Heat Health Research Program (CHHRP) raises heat-health risk awareness through multiple environmental measures. This presentation characterizes the history of Charleston’s community science initiative and builds the case for intervening in Hazard Bias through hands-on activities in collaboration with climate scientists, public health professionals, and environmental advocates.
