ASTM International has developed a new standard, D8272-19, to help provide guidance to method developers writing methods intended for compliance reporting. The guide covers steps for single lab validations, including, but not limited to, evaluating sampling, sample preservation, holding times, interferences, digestion and extraction, quantitation, required QC. The guide expands on ASTM Practice D2777 providing suggested details and steps implied, but not explained, in D2777. In addition, suggestions and assistance on performing collaborative studies is provided. This presentation provides an overview of this new guidance document.
