ABSTRACT

This paper described the efforts in the creation of ASTM standardized methodologies for sample collection, preparation and analyses of microplastic in the environment. We provide a summary review of a multitude of preparation and analysis techniques currently employed in the analysis of microplastics, challenges and different spectroscopic methods that were refined in the creation of simplified workflow for both the identification and quantification of microplastics in aquatic environments.
